DAY 2 — What We Lost in the Fall
Reading: Romans 3:23
Teaching:
Romans 3:23 isn’t just about personal sin. It reveals what humanity collectively lost: the glory.
Glory is not a halo—it’s the weight of divine authority and presence humanity once carried effortlessly.
When Adam and Eve sinned, the glory lifted.
They lost:
alignment with God’s rule
authority to govern creation
intimacy without shame
clarity of identity
the ability to represent God’s nature
Humanity didn’t just lose innocence—it lost capacity.
But hear this:
The fall damaged the image, but didn’t erase it. The mandate was interrupted, but not canceled. The potential was corrupted, but not destroyed.
The entire biblical story after Genesis 3 is about God restoring what was lost in Genesis 1.
And Christ came to restore the glory.
Paul writes: “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18).
What Christ Restored:
The glory — His presence dwelling in and upon you again
Authority — dominion to operate in Kingdom power
Unveiled intimacy — direct access to the Father’s heart
Ever-increasing transformation — not a one-time fix, but progressive restoration
This isn’t about recovering something you had in the past. This is about receiving something far greater through Christ—the glory Adam never experienced, the authority Jesus demonstrated, the intimacy the Spirit makes possible.
How to Put On the New Man:
1. Behold His glory — Spend time gazing at who Jesus is, not just what He does. Read the Gospels slowly. Let His nature imprint on yours.
2. Remove the veil — Confess sin quickly. Don’t let shame create distance. Stay unveiled before Him.
3. Cooperate with the Spirit — The transformation is His work, but you must yield. Say yes to what He’s doing, even when it’s uncomfortable.
Reflection: Which part of “the loss” feels most real in your own life story?
Activation: Pray this slowly, with intention:
“Spirit of God, unveil my face. Remove every barrier between Your glory and my heart. Transform me from glory to glory. Restore in me what was lost—authority, intimacy, clarity, capacity. I yield to Your work in me today.”
