WEEK 2 — Day 1: “THE LIE THAT DISTORTED HUMANITY”
Daily Kingdom insights for bold, Spirit-empowered living!
DAY 1 — The Lie That Distorted Humanity
Reading: Genesis 3:1–7
Teaching:
The serpent’s strategy was not merely temptation—it was identity assassination.
He questioned God’s goodness (”Did God really say?”), then attacked humanity’s identity (”You will be like God”—implying they weren’t already).
The fall didn’t begin with the bite of forbidden fruit. It began with the bite of a lie.
A lie that God was holding out on them. A lie that they were not enough. A lie that God’s design wasn’t good.
And humanity bought the lie.
Suddenly, the image got distorted. The likeness got clouded. Shame flooded their hearts. Fear redefined their relationship with God.
To this day, the enemy whispers the same lies—not just to tempt you, but to deform you.
Because if he can distort your identity, he can derail your assignment.
But Christ came to restore what the lie destroyed.
Paul commands: “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:22-24).
What Christ Restored:
True righteousness — right standing with God, no longer disqualified by sin
True holiness — the capacity to reflect God’s nature again
The uncorrupted image — created to be like God, not striving to become like Him
How to Put On the New Man:
This isn’t positive thinking or self-improvement. It’s a divine exchange.
1. Put off the old self — Renounce the lies you’ve believed about your identity. Name them. Reject them. Declare them powerless over you.
2. Be renewed in your mind — Let Scripture rewrite the narrative. What God says about you is more true than what you feel about yourself.
3. Put on the new self — Actively receive and wear your restored identity. Speak it. Walk in it. Let it define your decisions.
Reflection: What lie about your identity has the enemy tried to whisper into your heart?
Activation: Use this three-step prayer:
“I put off the lie that [name the lie]. I renounce its power over my identity.
I am being renewed in my mind by the truth that [declare Scripture].
I put on the new self—I am God’s image-bearer, created in Christ Jesus in true righteousness and holiness. I receive this identity now.”
