"My brothers were angry with me; they forced me to care for their vineyards, so I couldn’t care for myself—my own vineyard."
— Song of Songs 1:6 (NLT)
There is a holy discontent stirring in the hearts of God’s people—a sacred unrest among those called to pioneer. It’s not driven by ambition or self-promotion, but by divine summons. Though some would say it’s the voice of rebellion, all too often it’s revelation. This is not the cry of the offended, but the sound of the obedient—those who can no longer ignore the weight of Heaven’s assignment on their lives.
The cry of the Shulammite echoes across generations: "They forced me to care for their vineyards, so I couldn’t care for my own.”
How many have poured out their energy maintaining systems that no longer carry God’s breath? How many have laboured out of obligation while the call of obedience to their own God-given assignment lies dormant?
This is not a season to be driven by guilt or tethered by tradition—it is a season to respond to divine clarity. The Spirit is saying, “Tend what I gave you. Build what I’ve shown you. Obey what I’ve spoken to you.”
The Time of Visitation and Activation
We are living in a divine moment of visitation. There is a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit, not merely for personal renewal, but for Kingdom advancement. God is shaking what can be shaken—not to bring destruction, but to repositionHis people.
Just as in Acts 8, the disruption was divine strategy. The scattering of the early believers was not a setback—it was a setup for expansion. What looked like persecution was actually preparation. The Gospel was never meant to be contained within the walls of Jerusalem. So, God allowed the shaking.
"But the believers who were scattered preached the Good News about Jesus wherever they went.”
— Acts 8:4 (NLT)
What we are seeing now in many places is not chaos—it is Kingdom realignment. God is activating His builders, His reformers, His pioneers. He is calling forth those who will no longer be content with simply maintaining what once worked, but who will give their lives to stewarding what the Spirit is birthing now.
The Difference Between Loyalty and Obedience
Legacy is more important than blind loyalty. You were loyal in a past assignment and faithful in a previous season—but now, Jesus is calling you to build a Kingdom legacy. What once was a place of fruitfulness may no longer carry His breath. He is not calling you to abandon honour, but to embrace obedience. It is possible to respect the past while saying yes to the future He is unveiling.
Yes, honour matters. Loyalty has value. But when loyalty to a system or structure eclipses obedience to the Spirit, it becomes idolatry.
"But Samuel replied, ‘What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.’”
— 1 Samuel 15:22 (NLT)
Many have remained in old wineskins out of fear of dishonouring what was. But what if staying where God used to be is more dishonouring than stepping into where He is now? Some doors must be closed so that new ones can open. Abraham had to leave Ur. Moses had to leave Midian. Paul had to leave Jerusalem.
"But the Lord said to me, ‘Go, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles!’”
— Acts 22:21 (NLT)
Obedience is not always celebrated by men, but it is vindicated by Heaven. You are not disloyal for saying yes to God. You are not rebellious for building what He showed you in secret. You are being faithful.
Tend Your Own Vineyard
Prophetic Word to the Pioneers: You who have been hidden in the heat of labor, overlooked by men but marked by Heaven—this is your time of unveiling. The Lord says, “I have watched you toil in the shadows, tending what was not yours, but now I call you to rise and reclaim what I planted in you. The vineyard of your calling will no longer lie fallow. Step out from under imposed burdens and into My Spirit-led building. What you sow now in obedience, I will multiply with fire and favor.”
You have been given a vineyard—a specific calling, a vision, a divine assignment. It may not look like much to others. It may be hidden, humble, and small in the eyes of man. But it is heaven’s investment in your life.
"Every plant not planted by my heavenly Father will be uprooted.”
— Matthew 15:13 (NLT)
If God planted it, He intends for it to bear fruit. And not just fruit—but fruit that remains (John 15:16). But it will not grow if left untended. It will not multiply if abandoned. The vineyard assigned to you carries Kingdom potential—revival roots and reformation fruit.
You were not born to spend your days pruning someone else’s dying vine while your own is left untended. You were born to bear fruit in your lane, in your field, in your God-ordained assignment.
Pioneers of the Outpouring
There is an outpouring coming—not just on platforms, but in homes, communities, and unconventional spaces. And it will come through those who tend what God gave them. The next move of God will not come through the preservation of old systems, but through the birth of Kingdom expressions—wild, Spirit-breathed, Jesus-exalting communities that walk in both power and purity.
This is your Acts 8 moment.
This is your time to rise, build, and go.
Tend and Build
Don’t die in someone else’s vineyard. Don’t abandon the sacred call God placed on your life to fulfill another’s expectations. Don’t muffle the whisper of the Spirit because it sounds unfamiliar or inconvenient.
This is your moment to step into the very thing Heaven has entrusted to you.
Tend your own vineyard.
Build what Heaven is birthing.
Obey the One who called you—even when it’s costly.
"Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted...”
— Psalm 127:1 (NLT)
The urgency of the hour cannot be overstated. The harvest is not coming—it is already here. And the Lord is looking for builders He can trust.
Ask yourself:
What vineyard have I been called to but left untended?
Have I mistaken fear or comfort for faithfulness?
Am I spending my life maintaining what’s familiar or birthing what’s eternal?
Let these questions linger. Let the Spirit speak. Then respond—not with excuses, but with obedience.
You were made to build what only YOU can steward. The time is now.

This is so timely for my husband and me. We are retired pastors who do domestic missions serving the poor in our area. We are needing to move and looking at houses in Grand Junction, Palisade, CO (peach and wine country). We are considering one that is affordable and has a lot large enough to have a community coop garden with raised beds and a vineyard no less! It would be perfect for building community and feeding people. I come from a long line of avid gardeners— just never had the space to do it right!
The imagery in your post is perfect for all that is brewing in my heart right now! Would appreciate prayers for this dream to come to fruition in God’s capable hands! Thank you in advance. 🙏♥️ Susan
This is so potent!
