We are exhorted in the word of God to “Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy” (1 Corinthians. 14:1).
The New Covenant is the “Age of the Holy Spirit.” The gift of prophecy accompanied the coming of the Holy Spirit into the world. “And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy” (Acts 2:17). We are now a prophetic people!
Jesus made it possible through His death and resurrection for us to be reconciled and adopted into the Family of God. “Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 1:4-5, New Living Translation). As a result, we have been brought into a relationship of intimate communion with the Father and are now privy to His personal affairs. Christ shared, “I shall not call you servants any longer, for a servant does not share his master’s confidence. No, I call you friends, now, because I have told you everything that I have heard from the Father” (John 15:15, J.B. Phillips).
We must be completely convinced of the fact that our Father in Heaven delights to share His heart with us. Beloved, hearing God is not an experience for the privileged few. It is the portion and inheritance that comes with our calling as His children. “…The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and hear him speak. For you are to be his witness, telling everyone what you have seen and heard’” (Acts 22:14-15).
Make every effort to cultivate your relationship with your Father in Heaven. As you do, you will begin to perceive the knowledge of His will. Revelation flows out of relationship! Prophecy proceeds from a life of personal intimacy!
You are chosen to be a prophetic person.
“The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will. The Sovereign Lord has spoken to me, and I have listened. I have not rebelled or turned away” (Isaiah 50:4-5, New Living Translation).
Your Heavenly Father loves you and longs to reveal his thoughts and desires. Now listen for His voice!
