|“So don’t worry and don’t keep saying, ‘What shall we eat, what shall we drink or what shall we wear? That is what pagans are always looking for; your Heavenly Father knows that you need them all. Set your heart on the kingdom and his goodness, and all these things will come to you as a matter of course” (Matthew 6:31-33, J.B. Phillips).|
While some in the Church today debate over whether a Christian should live in poverty or live in prosperity, God is looking for a people that will live in “priority.”Such people seek first His Kingdom and righteousness, making His will theirs and have no personal agenda. Such people of priority maintain a poverty of spirit – the antithesis of pride and self-dependence – and invariably experience the prosperity of Heaven in all seasons.
Scripture is clear: we are to seek the person and presence of Christ Himself, not merely the promises and provision of the Kingdom. Jesus promised if we live for the King’s vision, the provision of the Kingdom will always be ours and we will lack nothing!
When you truly come to value what you have been given in Christ you will gladly forsake and discard everything else in order to safeguard your inheritance.Paul an apostle put it this way:
”Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him” (Philippians 3:8, New Living Translation).
