Going No Where Fast?

glenn and lynn bleakneyI am sure you have heard leaders speak of the importance of consistency and longevity in order for a ministry to succeed. Constancy, endurance, perseverance, these are all necessary characteristics of a successful leader in every sphere of society. In fact, it is especially true of those that are apostles, pioneers, and entrepreneurs. So what is the alleged danger of consistency?
Sometimes the line between consistency and rigidity is difficult to discern. What you think is productivity in your life may just be activity. Motion is not to be confused for momentum. The probing question we must ask ourselves is: are we really moving forward toward our destiny or are we stuck in the rut of routine? The way of the Kingdom is more than consistency. It also requires flexibility and adaptability if we are to be optimally effective in letting the life of Christ flow in and from us to others. Jesus’ modus operandi was doing ONLY that which the Spirit was leading Him to do. “So Jesus explained himself at length. “I’m telling you this straight. The Son can’t independently do a 4d6623e8-480c-42b4-ab4c-23724450de03thing, only what he sees the Father doing. What the Father does, the Son does. The Father loves the Son and includes him in everything he is doing” (John 5:19,The Message).
Father God wants to take you places you’ve never been and show you things you have not yet seen. Our responsibility is to be led by the Cloud, no longer limited by what we’ve always allowed. Jesus instructed us, “If any of you wants to serve me, then follow me. Then you’ll be where I am, ready to serve at a moment’s notice. The Father will honor and reward anyone who serves me” (John 12:26, The Message).
